Big marketplaces take a cut you do not control. On your own site you decide what you earn on every sale. Here is how to set the rate, a rate for one seller, and tax. You need the free WP Sell Services plugin. It takes about three minutes. There are four steps. Set the commission rate. Set a rate for one seller. Set up tax. Then see the split on an order. Step one. Set the commission rate. Open Settings, then Commission and Tax. Platform Commission has the Commission rate, as a percentage. Per-Vendor Rates lets you give one seller a different rate. Buyer Tips lets buyers tip sellers on completed orders. Tip Commission Rate sets your share of each tip. Change the rate, then save at the foot of the section. Step two. Set a rate for one seller. Open Vendors, and open a seller. Their page has tabs for services, orders and earnings. Settings is the last tab. Here you can set a rate for this seller alone, and reset it to the global rate. Step three. Set up tax. Back in Commission and Tax, Tax Configuration has Enable Tax, a Tax Label and a Tax Rate. Prices Include Tax decides whether the rate is added at checkout or already in the price. Tax Tips decides whether tips carry tax too. Step four. See the split on an order. This is a completed order, as the seller sees it. Order Summary shows the platform fee and what the seller earns. Every sale is split the same way, by your rate. That is all four. The commission rate set, a rate for one seller, tax set up, and the split seen on an order. You decide what you earn. Next in this series: Take your first payments.
